4 Karma Contracts We Need To Be Mindful Of

Karma

Karma is neither good or bad, instead, it is the cause and effect of our actions, reactions or the energy we put forth. Our authenticity leads the way to create a flow of karma that empowers life and creates a foundation of wellness, happiness, truth, and connection. When we are out of balance in our thoughts and emotions or if we are living from a disempowered part of ourselves, we will find the flow of karma challenging, and we receive what we perceive to be good or bad karma when in fact, it is just a reflection of where we are mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

People like to use karma as a threat or this scary dark cloud of energy out to get you, and I guess if you are leading from a dark place karma has no choice but to follow you down the path of your choices. We shouldn’t be afraid of karma though; in fact, we should probably take notice of why we keep repeating certain cycles.

Think about karma as two different energies, ego-based, and soul inspired. If the ego is leading the way with negativity, avoidance, anger, hurt or grief, then the actions you take will be from this energy, and the emotions you lead with will be derived from that part of you that is in a not so good place. If the soul is leading the way, karma will flow with truth, balance, empowerment, healing, wisdom, and love; the soul will follow through with the highest good.

4 of the most common Karma contracts we encounter in life can be controlled by either our ego or our soul. It is up to us who we lead with and ultimately which direction our karmic energy flows.

1 – Karma Contract of Healing

In life, we ultimately know there will be some ups and downs, it is just the way we have shaped the system and world. We know there are authentic people and not so authentic people, we know there is death, life and everything in between. We get hurt, we hurt others, we create a cycle. This contract is one of our biggest limitations, and it is the one we empower the most. To turn the karmic energy around one must be willing to heal daily all that comes up. Choosing to become consciously aware of health and wellness on an emotional, mental, physical and spiritual level can change the cycles that keep repeating. Healing is everything and choosing to take care of your mental and emotional wellbeing should be the number one priority on your list. Look inward first and then you will be able to help transform the outer.

2- Karma Contract of Identity

Who are you?

A mother? father? sister? parent? Child? doctor? criminal? jobless? Secretary? Good friend? Sally? Joe? Jane?…

How do you identify with this question right now?

Do you put the role, name and/or label first? Do you see yourself as this identity that provides some form of purpose for you? If you were to take a moment right now and ask yourself where YOU are amidst all the roles and labels, who would you see staring back at you? When we choose to lose ourselves in the role, name or label, we can become resentful, overwhelmed and even at a loss of who we are and what motivates us.

That is why self-love is so important, it is not about choosing yourself above anyone or anything else – it is about choosing to SEE YOU and to honor yourself and who you are, or want to be.

We identify with those pieces of us and sometimes we get caught up in the demands or images that these roles/names/labels come with. I knew it was hard to be a mother when I didn’t even know who I was. It was hard to form bonds with certain people close to me knowing that I felt at odds with myself, but I tried to fill the role I would be to them anyway. This is also where loyalty karma contracts come in (see below). It was difficult to be just a role in life, I knew I needed more from myself and I started discovering what that meant to me.

It is not about what we are, but WHO WE ARE to our values, truth, balance, love, light, and soul. As we honor our true selves we are able to identify with who we need to be in every part of our life.

Get out a pen and paper and write at the top “Who Am I”. Think about this for a moment and see yourself come forth. If you could be anything for yourself right now who would that be? Be creative and expressive.

For example:

Who am I?

The calm in any storm.

The solution to any problems.

A mindful woman of purpose.

A peaceful breath of fresh air.

The creator of my reality.

The strength to move mountains.

The love for my children.

The light in the dark.

When I use these types of statements I am able to see past the roles and be who I am from within.

3- Karma Contract of Loyalty

To whom and what are you loyal too? Does it serve the greater good? Are you loyal for the right reasons? Do you hold your loyalty against your values, meaning, do you stay loyal even if these values are being compromised?

It is a beautiful thing to be a loyal human being and equally important to stand up for the morals and values of the highest good. Loyalty should be given with the same level of respect as it is meant to represent.

For example: If your loyalty resides with the person you have known the longest vs the person who is in the right than it is ego’s loyalty that is leading the way. Of course, you want to be loyal to whom you’ve known the longest, but to what extent are you willing to go? How much are you willing to compromise for the wrong side of things?

We find ourselves walking a thin line when it comes to loyalty.

With this contract we need to be careful, loyalty is beautiful but can be extremely toxic if you are not standing in your power. Know what you value in life, relationships, ethics, morals and wellness. The first thing you should be loyal to is the truth.

4- Karma Contract of Love

Love is the key to everything and as such, it is the most powerful contract of them all. We can love with the ego or we can love from the soul, and you can definitely feel the difference between the two.

When love comes from the soul it flows with balance and truth. It has foundations in self-love first so that worthiness, respect, and compassion can shine through.

When we love with the ego there are limitations due to our previous hurts and pains or our lack of unworthiness. We love with half a heart because the other half is locked up out of self-preservation and protection. The ego attaches to love and uses it to to be codependent in every way possible, having you believe in loneliness, scarcity, lacking and fears.

This is the hardest karmic contract we have in our lives for it flows through everything and everyone. When we are disconnected from our true selves, love becomes hard to hold space for and this is where we find it turning into an ego-based love.

I have found nothing truer than the power of self-love; it becomes a foundation for unconditional love to grow from. When we love and empower who we are from a soulful level we are able to stand in our power. This, in turn, helps us choose wisely and to act with love, and in return, we receive the inner strength to transform our karmic energy and our lives.

When it comes to love it all makes sense, one can see the meaning behind each moment, person, and experience; when we love from a higher perspective and consciousness we are in the flow and willing to be the best version of ourselves we can be.

Keep Shining xo
